The Fifty-ninth Amendment of the Constitution of India, officially known as The Constitution (Fifty-ninth Amendment) Act, 1988, granted Emergency powers to the Union Government with respect to the State of Punjab, on the grounds that there was a threat to the integrity of India by internal disturbance in the State of Punjab. It was repealed on 6 January 1990 by the 63rd Amendment enacted by the V.P. Singh government. ==Text==
